Celebrating excellence at the Midnite Awards

Last week, the 2025 Co-Captains of Drama, Nick Hoedemaker and Zak Leaman, hosted the Midnite Awards at the Drama Centre. Widely regarded as the Midnite Youth Theatre Company’s biggest night of the year, the event celebrated the outstanding achievements of the company’s talented performers, creatives, and crew.
The evening paid tribute to the best of Midnite, reflecting on a remarkable season of productions. Guests were treated to captivating performances from Shakespeare in Love, The Comedy of Errors, Godspell, and a sneak preview of the upcoming show, Charlie Pilgrim, all of which were met with a large applause.
This year’s Leo Awards recognised excellence across multiple productions. Congratulations to the Christ Church students who won Leo Awards:
- Shakespeare in Love: Zak Leaman, Wilson Senders
- The Comedy of Errors: Ethan Koekemoer, Jacques Sahel
- Production & Design Leos: Izaac Couzens, Nathan Moyo
A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the prestigious Tim Willoughby Award for Outstanding Performance, awarded to Nick Hoedemaker for his memorable portrayal of Philip Henslowe in Shakespeare in Love.
Artistic Director Gregory Jones then unveiled the exciting program for Midnite’s 2026 Season: Larger Than Life, a season set to inspire, challenge and celebrate the boldness of youth theatre.
