Following his performance in Garrick Theatre’s production of Tennessee William’s The Glass Menagerie in 2017, Christ Church old boy Kael McGrechan (‘16) received various nominations for ‘best performance by a youth.’ This included nominations in each Breakthrough Award category and the Brian Maddox Adjudicator’s Youth Award, the latter of which he received.

Gregory Jones, Christ Church Grammar School Director of Drama says, “During his time at Christ Church Kael featured heavily in Midnite productions including A Funny Thing Happened on the way to the Forum (2016), Cloudstreet (2015) and The 39 Steps (2014) for which he was the recipient of the Tim Willoughby Award for Outstanding Performance.”

In his next appearance, Kael will be performing once again with the Garrick Theatre as Mr Fainall in The Way of the World, directed by Raymond Omodei. The drama will be produced in its original format, costumed and wigged according to the period. The dark plotting, romance and political intrigue, coloured by knockabout humour, has a theme that is as applicable today as it was then.

The play opens from 1 March and runs for two weeks. Further details are available through the Garrick Theatre website at www.garricktheatre.asn.au.
