This week, the School hosted a series of consent-focused sessions led by guest presenters Nicolette Beard and Kate Raston from We Are W/M. Drawing on their expertise in health promotion and school-based education, Nicolette and Kate shared insights from their work with young people, families, and communities across Western Australia.

Year 11 and 12 students attended a presentation exploring consent, healthy communication, boundaries, and respectful behaviour. Through open, discussion-based conversations, students examined what healthy relationships look like in real-world contexts and worked with the We Are W/M team to develop practical strategies for communicating with confidence, clarity and respect.

An evening session for parents explored how consent shows up in everyday life for young people, including shared language, current trends, and the broader social landscape students are navigating. Parents were offered practical guidance to support meaningful conversations at home and encouraged to share experiences, build understanding, and strengthen their confidence in supporting their children.

Strong engagement from both students and parents reflected a shared commitment to fostering positive relationships. The School will continue working in partnership with families to support respectful relationships and the wellbeing of all students.
