The opening night of Life of Insects, presented by The Midnite Youth Theatre Company at the Subiaco Arts Centre, was buzzing with colour, movement and energy as more than 50 students from Years 7 to 9 brought an insect kingdom to life on stage.

Audiences were invited into the insect world, navigating power, greed, love and community. Butterflies, beetles, ants and other insects carried the story through movement, humour and physical theatre, inviting audiences to reflect on the similarities between the insect world and our own.

Costumes and Set design were synthesised by the incredible skills of designer Jay Waugh, with each group of characters having a distinct identity and helping bring the insect world vividly to life.

Head of Drama and Artistic Director of The Midnite Youth Theatre Company Gregory Jones said the students’ commitment was evident on opening night.

“The students have worked incredibly hard, and it really shows on stage,” Mr Jones said. “They’ve worked tirelessly to create their individual characters, and audiences are loving it!”

A fun, family-friendly experience for all ages. The show is running until this Saturday 13 June – secure your tickets for the remaining performances here.
