Christ Church and St Hilda’s students embark on Cape to Cave adventure
Published on: 8 May 2025
Our first group of Year 8 students, alongside their peers from St Hilda’s Anglican School for Girls, are currently experiencing the unforgettable Cape to Cave camp – an immersive outdoor adventure designed to foster connections through shared challenges in nature.
Set in the breathtaking Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park, the students are spending five days hiking a section of the beautiful Cape to Cape Track. Along the way, they are mastering essential camping skills such as setting up tents, cooking on trangias, packing gear, and navigating the rugged terrain.
In addition to these hands-on experiences, students are taking part in thrilling activities including abseiling and exploring the ancient Giants Cave, where they are learning about Western Australia’s geological wonders. Cultural sessions with local guides are also enriching their understanding of Aboriginal heritage and custodianship of the land.
The Cape to Cave experience aligns perfectly with our outdoor education curriculum, blending physical, social, and cultural activities to build resilience, confidence, and environmental awareness. It also fosters teamwork, personal development, and strong connections, particularly with the girls from St Hilda’s.
Recognised with the 2024 Outdoor Education Australia Exemplary Program Award, this program continues to be a standout outdoor education experiences.
The second group of Year 8 students will head off for their adventure on Sunday.
