Christ Church senior cadets attended the 2/16 Battalion Brigadier Potts Oration held at Patterson’s Stadium recently. Accompanied by training staff and Headmaster Garth Wynne, the boys enjoyed a formal meal and a rousing oration by Brigadier Duncan Warren AM, RFD.

Captain Duane Nurse, who will take over the role of Co-ordinator of Army Cadets in 2014, said Brig Warren talked about the exploits of the 2/16 Battalion during the Kokoda campaign of World War II. He said the boys mingled with war veterans and represented the School in a dignified manner.

“The 2/16 Battalion Association spoke highly of the boys’ presentation and thanked Christ Church for their continued support of the event,” Capt Nurse said.

Cadet Under Officer Gagan Singh said the senior leadership group appreciated the opportunity to attend the dinner and interact with senior Australian Defence Force members and veterans.

“This highlights yet another opportunity for cadets to get involved with the ADF, allowing us to have a further understanding of the customs, traditions and history,” CUO Singh said.
