Christ Church’s First XI Soccer team had another big win this year, retaining the PSA trophy and finishing equal first with Trinity.

Head Coach, Mr Mark Lee described the victory as a bonus, following a strong season of soccer where the focus was on having fun.

“First and foremost we want the boys to be great people; respect each other, themselves, the referees and their opponents,” he said.

“I also want them to have fun playing football, enjoy the break from their studies, play to the best of their ability and leave with no regrets.”

Director of Sport, Mr Anthony Lynch congratulated the boys on their achievement and thanked the coaches involved for their support and direction.

“We have a strong team of coaches working on our Soccer program, including Jupp Head of House and 10A Coach Mr Todd Harnwell, who recently played in Football Australia’s FFA Cup,” he said.

Mr Lee thanked Headmaster Garth Wynne, Director of Sport Anthony Lynch, and the team of coaches for their support of the program, saying their success was due to their ongoing interest in the overall development of the soccer team.

For boys interested in making the First XI Soccer team, Mr Lee gave the following advice, “Make sure you play because you love it, it’s about being the best player you can be and having a great time doing so.”

“I really enjoy playing soccer for Christ Church as there is an extremely positive vibe and culture surrounding the sport,” said Geremy Fatouros (Year 12).

“The coaches at Christ Church have been nothing but the best. A lesson that will stick with me came from Mark Lee, he said ‘it is about being the best person you can be on and off the field and the result will take care of itself.’”
