Christ Church Grammar School’s Senior crews dominated at last weekend’s Head of the River event at Champion Lakes, with our First, Second, Third and Fourth VIII crews celebrating wins.

Our First VIII crew of Lucas Gribble, Harry Ickeringill, Chase Bergsma, Henry Chandler, Jackson Bergsma, Mitchell Forbes, William Hart, Tom Newton and Isaac Hamilton experienced an excellent start and maintained their lead throughout the gruelling 2000m race. Previous winners Hale came in 2nd, followed closely by Scotch and then Trinity.

Coach Justin Colangelo was extremely proud of the boys as they had worked incredibly hard throughout the season.

Teacher in Charge of Rowing, Mr Justin Forbes said, “The boys were very keen to win the final race of the year after such a fantastic season.”

“The next exciting opportunity for our First and Second VIII crews is to race at the National Rowing Championships being held in Sydney this week.”

Christ Church’s rowing crews will be competing at the following times:

  • Thursday 28 March from 5.05pm to 5.15pm AEST
  • Friday 29 March from 5.10pm to 5.15pm AEST
