The Christ Church swimming squad had a fantastic night of competition at the PSA Swimming Carnival last week, finishing in second place behind Hale School. Teacher in Charge of Aquatics Luke Farmer said although the boys were beaten, they represented the School proudly and displayed great sportsmanship.

“Bill Kirby and I are extremely proud of the swimmers for their dedicated preparation in the lead up to the PSA,” he said.

“The boys performed incredibly well throughout the competition and our strong swimming culture at Christ Church was well and truly on display.”

The final results were Hale (1094.5 points), Christ Church (943), Trinity (750), Wesley (714.5), Aquinas (710), Scotch (657) and Guildford (442).

Kai Wylie was a standout performer winning all of his Division 1 races in the Under 13 age group – a terrific and certainly rare achievement for a Christ Church swimmer. In the Under 17 age group, Ben Cunningham and Jonte Blake had success winning their individual races against some very tough competition. In addition to this success, 18 of the 24 relay teams finishing on the podium.

Mr Farmer thanked the coaching staff, age group managers and leadership team for their dedication to the swimming squad. He also thanked the families of the swimmers for supporting their boys and the team, making special note of Nicola Pennell for her organisation and support throughout the season.
