Over 200 guests gathered at Mojos Bar last Sunday to support our Rock Workshop students as they performed a compilation of their favourite songs and originals at this popular annual event.

Featuring Christ Church rock bands ranging from Years 4 to 6 (Prep Rock Workshop) through to Years 7 to 12 (Middle and Senior Rock Workshops), the afternoon was a great success with music from The Triffids, Royal Blood, Paul Kelly, Jeff Buckley, Imagine Dragons, Coldplay, Cage The Elephant, Green Day, Nirvana and many more. A particular highlight of the event was Gus McKenzie and Isaiah Quintana’s final appearance with fellow bandmates Joshua Ellis and Jonny Morris, opening the gig with two brilliant originals and a great cover of Stuck in the Middle With You by Stealers Wheel.

“Our school rock program offers an exciting opportunity for boys to rehearse and play with friends in a band, choose and write their own songs, learn all the technology, equipment, rehearsal tips and tricks required to play together, and then gain real experience by performing in front of different audiences,” says Secondary Music Teacher, Rhiannon Hodgson.

“Performing live at a venue such as Mojos allows them even further insight into becoming a musician. They are always very excited for this performance throughout the year, especially to be performing with their mates in front of a packed house!”
