The annual “Un” Winter Lunch once again brought together some of Christ Church’s most cherished old boys, the Unforgettables (1940 to 1949) and the Unflappables (1950 to 1959), for a wonderful celebration of lifelong friendships and shared history at the School.

Held in the Old Boys’ Gallery, this special gathering honoured those who graduated in the 1940s and 1950s, a time when Christ Church was a much smaller community. Year groups were intimate and the friendships forged during those years have stood the test of time.

Among the many fond memories shared on the day, Martin Booth (’59) reflected on his experience as a boarder, which began at just six years old. To attend Christ Church every year, he would travel by ship from Singapore to Perth, a journey that took a full week.

A special thank you goes to Dean Bowker (’55), who reminded the group of the importance of supporting the Pavilion Challenge, an initiative aligned with our vision to centralise sport at St John’s Wood. The proposed pavilion will provide essential modern amenities for students and serve as a gathering space for parents, friends, and the wider community.

Events like the “Un” Winter Lunch serve as a powerful reminder that the true value of a Christ Church education lies not only in academic achievement, but in the deep community ties that continue to connect old boys across generations.
