The long weekend provides a well-earned break from the rigours of Term 3. For students in Years 7 to 12, it is time to take stock of where they are now and what lies ahead to achieve their goals. I strongly recommend all Senior school students create a five-week plan to focus on their future academic tasks and assessments to ensure they do their best in the final stages of the term.
This afternoon, many Year 12 students in First teams will play their last winter sport game for the year. The commitment shown by all teams has been outstanding once again. The Cross-Country trophy is all but in the cabinet with an all-conquering undefeated season, while the Badminton team is also looking for a win against Hale for back-to-back PSA titles. My thanks go to all the parents, coaches and managers who have supported from the sidelines throughout the season.
I have been enlisting the help of staff to remind our students of the high standards of presentation expected. Ensuring that the school uniform is worn properly and with pride can be a challenge, however, when the boys do so they bring credit to the school and themselves. The mid-term break presents the ideal opportunity to get a haircut and to check the Presentation Guidelines. We look forward to boys returning to campus next Tuesday with polished shoes, belts and blazers being worn, shirt collars that can be buttoned, and neatly tied ties. Being clean-shaven is also a focus with our Senior School students. Thank you in advance for your collective help and support to ensure we maintain our high standards.
We had a fantastic night on Friday with approximately 200 staff, boarding families, parents, boarders, and special guests joining us on campus to celebrate our boarding community and the talents of our boarders. The evening was made more enjoyable by the contributions of students from different years who spoke on behalf of the boarding community about their experiences or performed musical items.
On Monday night the PSA Theatre Sports competition saw our students win the competition with a great display of their impromptu skills. Last night marked the inaugural PSA Public Speaking contest. Students Jeremiah Wang and Aden Frias de Norohona participated in the competition held at Wesley. Aden secured the championship and presented the PSA Public Speaking trophy to Principal Alan Jones at this morning’s assembly, where he received a standing ovation from the audience. I would like to congratulate both boys for their involvement and Aden for his triumph. Best of luck to the students competing in the PSA Golf and Surfing competitions today and tomorrow respectively, I hope the conditions are favourable.
Finally, please enjoy a restful long weekend and I look forward to welcoming our students back on Tuesday looking sharp and ready for a strong finish to the term.
