Over the past few months, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting with our incoming Year 7 students for 2026 as part of their orientation into the Senior School. Next Tuesday evening, I will join key members of staff to address the 2026 cohort and their parents, providing an overview of life in the Senior School. We look forward to continuing this orientation journey throughout the year as we prepare them for a smooth transition.
Recently, we hosted the ‘Study Smarter, Not Harder’ workshop for both Year 7 students and their parents. This session was well attended, and I would like to thank Ms Bana for her leadership in coordinating the program, supported by the Studies and Pedagogy Offices. To book a place for the final workshop this Sunday 18 May, please click here. Bookings will close at 12.00pm this Friday.
Last night, our Year 10 students, along with students from St Hilda’s Anglican School for Girls, enjoyed a beautiful evening on the water for the annual Year 10 River Cruise. Thank you to Mr Saggers and his team for organising this and other valuable social opportunities for our students in Years 10 to 12.
Next week, we welcome back the final group of Year 8 students participating in the combined Cape to Cave program, and we begin the Year 11 and 12 exam period. Additionally, Year 10 parents are invited to an Information Evening on Wednesday, focused on subject selections for Year 11. I strongly encourage all parents to attend to gain valuable insights to then help guide their son into making the right subject selections.
As we head into Round 3 of the winter sports season following last weekend’s bye, and with daylight hours shortening, we kindly ask for your continued support in ensuring student pick-up arrangements are clearly understood:
Training (Years 7 to 9): Students leaving a training venue with a parent must check out with the staff member in charge of their team.
Friday fixtures: If you plan to collect your son directly from a fixture venue, please email the teacher-in-charge by 12.00pm on Thursday. Students must still check out with their supervising staff member before leaving.
Supervising staff on return bus duty have been instructed not to leave any students unattended at sporting venues. Please note there is always a member of staff on after-school duty on campus until 5.45pm, available via 9442 1555 for any urgent issues.
Full details of your son’s sports fixtures—including bus departure and return times—can be found under the Sports tab on the School App. If your son is unable to attend training or a fixture, please notify us at absentees@ccgs.wa.edu.au. From this week, you will receive an email if your son has an unexplained absence from sport, and we would appreciate a prompt response to ensure our duty of care is maintained.
Finally, a reminder that Year 11 and 12 students have a fixture this weekend against Wesley.
