House Shout Rehearsals begin this week with the 2021 theme of Australian Artists. Each House will use time on Thursday afternoons to learn and rehearse their chosen song and will be judged on their performance in Week 10. It is an exciting House event that all boys enjoy, and it is always a pleasure to hear boys singing around the campus. This year the four Houses will be performing the following songs:

Yonga: Riptide – Vance Joy
Kearla: Run to Paradise – Choirboys
Wardung: Silk Suits – Kram
Karda: You’re the Voice – John Farnham

ICAS Assessments continue this week with ICAS Science and Spelling taking place in Sandover Hall. This year has seen the highest number of boys register for these academic assessments and we hope that all participating boys are enjoying this opportunity.

Wednesday saw the third Parent Series of the year take place with our School Psychologist Kate Atkinson providing valuable insights about supporting the emotional development of boys in Years 5 and 6. These included:

  • navigating the playground
  • friendship issues
  • what’s normal
  • strategies to support children who have friendship difficulties
  • bullying
  • when to intervene
  • coping skills

This week the boys in the Preparatory School are celebrating Book Week with guidance from the Library team. The Children’s Book Council of Australia 2021 theme is Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds. The boys will have the opportunity to participate in various quizzes and competitions in our Preparatory School Library throughout the week. Book Week concludes on Friday where all boys are invited to dress up as their favourite book character. It is always one of the most exciting days in the school calendar. The boys will be able to show off their costume in the Book Week Parade after our assembly on Friday.

Happy reading!

Congratulations to this week’s Building Good Men Award winners.
