As you read this CCGS world article our Years 5 and 6 teams are engaged in their final sports fixture for the year against Hale School. I would like to take this opportunity to reflect on the role of our sports program at Christ Church Grammar School as it is an important dimension of our School. As part of our full curriculum offering, it presents to the boys opportunities to learn more about themselves, their interaction with others and just to have fun. As an organised and skills-based program, it is without peer in West Australian sport. Activities such as water polo, cricket, basketball, sailing, multi-sport and tennis cater for all interests and abilities. Of course, such a program could not be effective without sound organisation. We are indeed fortunate to have Mr Brady Leckie as coordinator of our Sports program. I know that all the boys are appreciative of his work and on your behalf, I congratulate him on a wonderful summer program. In addition, I would like to acknowledge Mrs McKenzie Pugh for her support of the wider school Physical Education and Sport program and offerings for our younger students.

Over the last two weeks you may have noticed collection boxes for the CCGS Preparatory School ‘Great Toy Drive’, where all the toys will be donated to Anglicare. Thank you to all the families for supporting this wonderful initiative and I have been informed that a truck will be needed due to the number of toys donated.

Last Friday, all boys were able to experience a day with their 2020 classmates and teacher at our Orientation Day. Friendships were made as the boys engaged with a number of learning activities that were both fun and rewarding.

This week Year 6 boys have been preparing their song for Speech Morning and the Pre-Primary to Year 2s have also been preparing for Nativity Assembly. As the final weeks come to a close, our boys continue to be involved in a range of learning experiences that aim to stimulate and challenge them.

In preparation for 2020, I would ask all parents to take a few moments to go through some of the updates at the recent Parent Forum. Finally, as this is the last CCGS world entry for the year, I would like to thank all the Preparatory School staff, students and families for supporting me in my first year at Christ Church. I have thoroughly enjoyed 2019 and I look forward to continuing to work closely with the Preparatory School community next year. On behalf of all the staff from the Preparatory School, we would like to wish you a safe, happy and merry Christmas.
