Last Saturday we held the official launch of St John’s Wood playing fields. It was a spectacular day, with phenomenal weather and the grounds looked fabulous for our rugby and soccer teams. I extend a very warm thanks to all those who attended and our guest speaker Mr Peter Hollingsworth. You can see some photos from the morning here.
This week the discussion about school funding has continued. We are currently working through the calculations and it will be on the agenda for the next School Council meeting. I can share with you that we will receive an increase from an average $2 688 to $2 762 per annum, per student, or 2.75% for 2018. The government has released calculations of funding for every individual school, which can be found here.
I recently had great pleasure in writing to our boarding parents. I am so proud of our boarders, across all year groups, as they continually demonstrate maturity, kindness and care to their fellow boarders and our staff. The boarding community has been an integral part of Christ Church for more than 100 years now and will be for many, many more.
This week is National Volunteer Week and I would like to sincerely thank the many groups of volunteers at Christ Church who donate their time to all different areas of the School. Some of our volunteer groups include the Uniform Shop, Parents’ Association, Old Boys’ Association and the School Council. We have a number of parents and grandparents who volunteer in our classrooms, at school events and with sports training, as well as old boys and community members who volunteer their expertise and advice on one-off projects, adding to the richness of our community.
A reminder to all parents to please wear your name badges when on campus, this assists with safety and helping to build the community spirit.
This morning we held the Year 9 Mother/Friend and Son breakfast, and it was great to see the boys and their mothers enjoying time together. I would like to wish all mothers in our community a very happy Mother’s Day which falls on Sunday this weekend. It’s such a lovely day to celebrate the mother of the family, motherhood, maternal bonds and the influence of mothers in society.
