It has been a whirlwind start to Term 3, with parent/student and tutor meetings, sport, the Prep School build, a myriad of competitions and so much more. When I reflect on all that has passed, is currently happening and planned, I am reminded of one of our core values – excellence.

Excellence is not just good, it is exemplary and it is something that stands out as a result of the desire, will and effort of the individual or group involved in its creation. I ask it of myself, every staff member and every boy in everything we do. I believe that it is one of the many elements that sets Christ Church apart from other schools and is integral to our success. It influences so much of what we do and it is wonderful to be able to celebrate excellence in the many diverse forms it can take.

I would like to congratulate all of our sports teams who continue to do incredibly well in the PSA competition. A couple of special mentions: 1st Badminton, 1st and 2nd Soccer, 8A and B Football, 9A Hockey, 2nd XI Hockey, 10A Rugby and 9C Soccer. Some of these teams are unbeaten, others have demonstrated significant improvement, and all participants have been giving their preferred sport 100%. An exemplar of excellence.

This week we have continued our Year 6 Transition events with the aim of providing our current Year 6 boys with a great foundation for next year. Yesterday we conducted a tour of the Senior School for current parents and boys. For those unable to attend, your boys will have plenty of time to become acquainted with the Senior School campus during their November orientation day. Other events have included an information session for parents on Year 7 subjects and approaches to teaching, lunch for the boys with the current Senior School Prefects, Head of the Prep School and Head of Senior School, two amazing Senior School classes including Science with Dr Charles and Design and Technology with Mr McGillivray. We feel that the transition events are positioning our boys well for the move to the Senior School and the next exciting phase of your son’s education.

Next week I hope to catch up with many of you as we celebrate opening night for the NAIDOC Week art exhibition and for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (book here), and an event that I look forward to every year, the Walters Residential Community Celebration with our boarding families.
