Last Friday night I attended the PMC Leavers Dinner which was a very special night full of energy and emotion. I am incredibly proud of our four PMC Year 12 students who will soon leave us after achieving so much in their time at school.

On Sunday evening, it was wonderful to attend the Year 12 Boarding Farewell Dinner where boarders, residential staff and Year 12 parents had the opportunity to reflect on the contribution the Year 12 boys have made to the residential community.

This week is perhaps one of the busiest weeks in the school calendar, with the conclusion of the School experience for our Year 12 students at Valedictory events and the appointment of the 2018 School Prefects. It is a week of celebrations and farewells.

Tuesday morning at the Assembly in Honour of Year 12, we acknowledged the leadership demonstrated throughout the year by our Year 12 students and I am very proud of what they have achieved individually and in the name of their school. We heard from former School Council member David Rose, who spoke about how lucky the boys are and how to use the opportunities they have been given to create even better futures for future generations. He elaborated on giving back, being resilient and remaining humble, concluding his talk with words of wisdom… one should never stop critiquing and thinking. An inspirational talk that can be found in full here. I wish to acknowledge what a wonderful group of boys our leavers of 2017 have been and wish them well. I am confident that the boys will fulfil the expectations we have of them and the potential they carry within.

The night before Valedictory I attended the Midnite Awards for 2017 and launch of the 2018 season. 2018 is a time for magic with productions such as Masquerade, Big Fish and Peter Pan and I recommend you visit midnite.ccgs.wa.edu.au and book tickets as they will sell fast.

This morning we announced our School Prefects for 2018, you can see the full list of appointments here. I wish to congratulate all boys and announce that our 2018 Captain of School is Matthew Tissiman and our Vice Captain, Marc Boyatzis.

Tonight is the Old Boys’ Association AGM for 2017. I would like to express my thanks to outgoing president, David Payne, and to Deborah Hill and Rachel Roscoe who work tirelessly in the Alumni Office to ensure our old boys are the most engaged in Australia and beyond. The past year marked the centenary of the OBA and working together with the School, we hope that the next 100 years will be equally as successful as we connect meaningfully with old boys globally in order to deliver on the objectives of the Association.
