CCGS World Edition
From the Principal

Last Friday morning at assembly I had the pleasure of watching our Prep boys guide the audience through a review of music from past decades, starting with the 50s and finishing with PSY – Gangnam Style, as can be seen in this video. As part of their all-round education, every student has the opportunity to perform on stage in front of their peers. It’s always a pleasure attending assembly and seeing the excitement and energy our younger students bring to all that they do.
The Head of the River on Saturday was exciting to watch, as the boys brought to the competition all of the energy and focus they possessed. Rowing is one, if not the, most physically demanding sports requiring a superior level of team work and every competitor on Saturday can be incredibly proud of their performance. Winning the Hamer Cup, as the overall champion school, was an indication of the hard work the students, staff, parents and members of the Don Fraser Rowing Club have put in this season. A replay of all races from the 2018 Head of the River can be viewed here if you missed the action.
Our new Prep School is progressing well as can be seen from this recent video. The size of the rooms, the natural light and variety of learning spaces are all superior. It is in every way an amazing building that will stand the test of time and assist future generations of Christ Church boys in their pursuit of excellence.
At Christ Church more than a third of our boys are involved in Music through classes, programs and performances. There are many proven benefits to incorporating music into everyday life and our BGM article on How music in everyday life supports positive mental health explores why music is a great inclusion in your son’s life. I am looking forward to attending Music to the Fore tomorrow evening and enjoying the breadth of wonderful music on offer at the School.
I recently enjoyed attending the 40-year school reunion for our ‘78 leavers which commenced with a tour of the campus and concluded with plenty of socialising and reconnecting at the local yacht club.
I’m looking forward to seeing many of our boys riding to school tomorrow for National Ride2School Day, and for our proficient peloton riders I hope you have registered to ride with me and other members of the school community on 8 April in the first Principal’s Bike Ride.
And finally, student safety and welfare is at the forefront of school priorities and in the coming weeks we will be undertaking a security upgrade of our CCTV network to enhance the security of our students.
