Planning, setting goals, and establishing healthy routines are key practices that all boys need to constantly review and refine. In the second week of term this is particularly important for our senior boys. This week they have received their mid-year exam timetables and must now plan an appropriate study timetable to ensure they are well prepared.

It is important to take a moment and reflect on the Year 12 Ball held last Saturday night. The Year 12 boys, young men, and their partners for the night demonstrated respect for each other and those in attendance, and appreciation for the opportunity to enjoy such event. There was a good mix of excitement and energy, particularly on the dance floor throughout the night.

The following comments highlight the scope of activities undertaken at Christ Church. Members of the School orchestra and choir have been rehearsing for many long hours in the lead up to this Friday’s Combined Concert Performance with St Hilda’s and I am sure this will be a wonderful event. All reports from our staff on the Leeuwin in Shark Bay have been positive and it was encouraging to learn that preparations for our third group of boys attending this year’s World Challenge went well over the weekend. There is certainly no shortage of opportunities for all of our boys, particularly when I note the number of Year 9 and 10 boys involved in the play Stories from Suburban Road opening next Wednesday.

At Christ Church we have clear rules to eliminate the distractions caused by mobile phones during the boys’ academic day. We are also reducing the dependency boys may have to continually check the phone by mandating that boys must store their phones in their lockers to avoid disruption in the learning environment. Parents, please know that your son may not respond to a message from you during the day due to these rules. If boys need to be contacted urgently, please call the School’s Main Reception who will assist with important communications.

Finally, I would like to commend all parents who came to support their son/s at last week’s sporting fixtures. It certainly means a great deal to the boys to have some words of encouragement coming from the sidelines as they compete.
