This week the School has been shining a spotlight on everything boarding as part of our annual National Boarding Week celebrations.

The week got off to a sweet start on Monday as the boarders were treated to cupcakes during recess, provided courtesy of Director of Boarding Brad Downing. The cupcakes featured the National Boarding Week logo in icing and were quickly snapped up by eager boarders.

On Wednesday the boarders gathered in Sandover to enjoy a special Chinese themed dinner.

On Thursday a few of the senior boarders, including Captain of Boarding Charlie Stevenson, spoke during the Senior School assembly about where they come from, the best parts of being a boarder at Christ Church, the programs and social events they get to attend and highlighted all the important contributions our boarders make to the wider Christ Church community.

Throughout the week the School’s Facebook and Instagram pages featured video interviews with Brad Downing, Year Group Co-ordinator Todd Harnwell, Captain of Boarding Charlie Stevenson and most importantly the boarders themselves.

In addition to the video interviews, photos of the boarders enjoying their customary routines like the daily breakfast in Sandover, enjoying a game of table tennis after school and ironing their uniform provided a glimpse into life in our Residential Community.

Brad Downing spoke on the importance of celebrating National Boarding Week, ‘National Boarding Week is an incredible opportunity for us as a school to recognise the important contributions our boarders make to the wider Christ Church community. It is also vital that we take a moment to highlight the amazing work of our boarding staff who provide a home away from home for our local, rural and international students.”
