Soli ‘18 was a great event on Saturday evening as 11 of our Year 12 musicians took to Hadley Hall, delivering solo performances ranging from symphonic realms through to blues and rock ‘n’ roll.

Supported by Christ Church music students from Years 7 to 12 across a range of orchestral, jazz and rock ensembles, familiar titles performed included Bohemian Rhapsody, Just the Way You Are, Cliffs of Dover, Hallelujah, Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in C Minor, 3rd Movement and November Rain.

“Our performers showed off their virtuosity, and it was also very heartening to see all of them involved in accompanying roles as well. The night recognised the true role of music in acting as both a collaborative and solo art form,” says Director of Music, Kevin Gillam.

“It has been a real pleasure to watch these Year 12 students develop into fine musicians during their time at Christ Church, with some starting their musical journey from as early as Pre-Primary.”

On behalf of the Music Department, thank you to all members of the community who attended the concert. Special recognition also goes to the conductors, stage and technical support, music librarianship and front of house staff for their contributions.
