On Friday 6 May, the Prep School’s Drama and Dance stars put on a show for family and friends.

6HP performed a fairy-tale assessment piece, the boys from the street dance co-curricular program performed a routine to the song Gold by Kiaara and the Yahoos performed Falling Slowly from the musical Once.

“The performances were fantastic – I was incredibly proud of the way the boys took to the stage and captured everyone’s attention,” said Ryan Dawson, Preparatory Drama and Dance specialist.

“They dedicated a lot of time and energy to their rehearsals and I thank them for their commitment and professionalism.”

The Preparatory School Drama and Dance program is a new offering for 2016 and an exciting opportunity for the boys to compliment their arts program. Boys from Pre-Primary to Year 6 take part in the program, focussing on improvisation, voice, dance, and different aspects of the performing arts world.

“In Dance and Drama the boys have the freedom to choose, to express, to act, to say and simply just to be. My goal is to create an environment that is fun and safe for the boys, while they engage in using their senses in both cognitive and physical ways.”
