Christ Church warmly welcomes Looma students

Last week, Christ Church welcomed a group of Year 10 to 12 students from Looma Remote Community School. This visit continues a strong partnership between Christ Church and Looma, developed through the SIA tours program, which has been visiting the community for a number of years.
While in Perth, the Looma students enjoyed a packed itinerary including a tour of Optus Stadium, attending an AFL game and training sessions, and visiting the Western Australian Museum Boola Bardip.
The School gifted each student a book written by First Nations authors. This donation was made possible through the generosity of John Moore (’43), who dedicated part of his bequest to supporting the Christ Church Library and initiatives like this.
Brennan Gillam, a teacher at Looma, said he was appreciative of the opportunity to visit Christ Church.
“On behalf of everyone from Looma, thank you to Christ Church for hosting us during our stay,” he said.
“The students thoroughly enjoyed their time on campus, and we look forward to welcoming your students to Looma later this term.”
In support of Looma and other remote Indigenous communities, Christ Church is running a Football Boot Drive. Families are invited to donate any pre-loved or outgrown football boots to help young players pursue their passion for the game. Collection boxes are available at the Main Administration until Thursday 12 June.
Year 11 student Kayde sent a message to students this week to get behind the drive. Watch it here.
