Congratulations William Hu (Year 10) and Leo Li (Year 12), medal winners in the 2016 Australian Mathematics Competition.

Annually more than 300 000 students from across Australia and 30 different countries participate in the Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC), and this year William and Leo were two of just 26 aspiring mathematicians awarded medals.

William travelled to Canberra earlier this week where he was presented his medal by His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) at Government House. Leo Li could not attend as he is in the midst of his WACE examinations.

This is William’s fourth consecutive medal since receiving his first medal in 2013. The Australian Mathematics Competition started in 1978, and only eight other students have won consecutive medals from Years 7 to 10. This is a remarkable accomplishment and we celebrate the achievement of both William Hu and Leo Li.
