The Class of 2014 was celebrated at an Assembly in Honour of Year 12 this week with guest of honour, the Very Reverend Richard Pengelley, who last week was announced the 17th Dean of Perth.

Father Pengelley, who has been the Director of Service Learning and Leadership and Assistant Chaplain at Christ Church since 2012, had several comparisons between his momentous week and the graduates’.

Father Richard, who was involved in a baptism, wedding and funeral during the course of the week, compared them to new beginnings and the boys’ first day of school; love – the foundation of a full life and through their parents, what set them on their Christ Church journey; and wisdom, something they would gain as they began their adult life after school.

Father Richard presented the prizes and awards to the Year 12 cohort including the Dux of the School, the Rosalie Helen Parry Memorial Prize, awarded to Richard Tien.

2014 School Captain Charlie Moorman gave his final assembly speech and recognised the smaller cohort’s diversity of talents and closeness. He also took a moment to acknowledge Matthew Carulli, who would have graduated with the Class of 2014, but who sadly lost his brave battle with leukaemia earlier this year.

Bishop Kay Goldsworthy gave the blessing while the Chamber Choir performed Towards Infinity by Paul Jarman. The 2015 School Captain and Prefects were also announced to the Senior School and will be formally inducted at assembly on 30 October.

Following the formalities, the Year 12s raced outside to the Chapel Forecourt for the traditional last Linga. In the evening the graduating boys, their parents and staff attended the Year 12 Valedictory Service and Dinner, which provided more moments of reflection and enjoyment.
