The Christ Church community honoured the Class of 2016 at their final assembly of the year on Tuesday.

Principal Alan Jones congratulated the boys on their academic and co-curricular achievements, thanking them for being exceptional role models.

Academic and merit prizes were awarded to boys who excelled throughout the year. Dux of the School, the Rosalie Helen Parry Memorial Prize, was awarded to Leo Li.

In his final assembly speech, Captain of School Owain Chandler recognised the leaving class, making particular note of their great talents and friendships.

“For some this is a day you may have dreamt of, but for others of us, an anxious yet exciting time. Nonetheless, it is another experience we share together, saying goodbye to an institution full of close friends and mentors, and hello to the many new doors that will open as our school life comes to an end and a new chapter of adventure begins,” Owain said.

“It is not only the friendship and support of fellow peers that has led to success within our cohort, but the culture of Christ Church Grammar School – acknowledging, encouraging and achieving success in more than just academics.”

He acknowledged the staff at Christ Church for their commitment to the boys, thanking them for the support and the important virtues they have instilled including perseverance, respect and resilience.

In the evening, the Valedictory Service and Dinner provided the boys, parents and staff a final opportunity to celebrate their time at Christ Church.

We wish the Class of 2016 all the best for their future endeavours and look forward to welcoming them into the Christ Church Old Boys’ Association.
