Christ Church has once again proven its dominance on the water, claiming first place at the WA Schools Teams Sailing Regatta held at Nedlands Yacht Club.

In a competitive field featuring schools from across the state, the CCGS Gold team sailed to victory, securing the title of State Secondary Schools Team Sailing Champions and bringing home the coveted Ron Tough Trophy.

The performance was exceptional across the board, with the CCGS Blue team securing a strong third-place finish. These impressive results from both teams at the regatta underscore the depth of talent and skill within the School’s sailing program.

Teacher in Charge of Sailing, Mr Khiem Ly, commended both teams for their commitment and determination throughout the season.

“The boys have been training consistently for over six months, all while balancing their academic and co-curricular responsibilities,” he said. “Each sailor earned their place through merit and undeniable passion for the sport.”

“They faced long hours on the water, enduring fatigue and cold conditions, but they persevered. Winning this regatta is a remarkable achievement, but winning it back-to-back is the icing on the cake.”

Mr Ly also highlighted the crucial support of the wider Christ Church community.

“This victory belongs to more than just the team – it belongs to our sailing families. You’ve been our foundation – our support, our helping hands, and our loudest cheerleaders. You are the heroes behind our success.”

With this win, the CCGS Gold team has secured a spot at the National Schools Team Sailing Regatta in July, where they will represent Western Australia against the country’s top schools.

We wish our sailors the best of luck at nationals.
