National Science Week has given students plenty of opportunities to get curious, explore new ideas and see science in action.

This year’s theme, ‘Seeds of Science: Nurturing knowledge for all’, highlights the importance of curiosity and discovery in science.

Our Year 11 and 12 Chemistry students joined students from Methodist Ladies’ College for a special Chemistry Breakfast featuring Bayliss Youth Lecturer Dr David Morrison.

Dr Morrison spoke to students about ‘Polymers, 3D Printing and Innovation in Healthcare’, exploring how these technologies are being used to create new possibilities in healthcare. His presentation gave students an insight into the research and technology helping to shape the future of medicine.

Students also had the chance to get up close with some unusual visitors when Critters Up Close brought a collection of furry and scaly creatures to campus. The session gave students the chance to learn more about different species and the importance of biodiversity.

At lunchtime, students have also been putting their science knowledge to the test in interactive quizzes, with plenty of friendly competition along the way.

It has been a great opportunity for students to experience science beyond the classroom and see where curiosity can lead.
