On Sunday 100 students from the School’s Rock Workshop program took to the stage at the iconic Rosemount Hotel to perform covers of legendary rock songs and a few originals in front of a packed audience as part of this year’s Rock Workshop Extravaganza.

16 bands, comprised of boys from Years 4 to 11, performed popular hits by artists including Midnight Oil, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Neil Young.

Director of Rock Workshop, Mr Jozef Grech commented on the importance of having the concert at a live music venue, “The Rosemount is a fantastic concert venue. It was a valuable experience for our students to play on a big stage and a treat for the audience who were immersed in the amazing sound and light show.”

One of the events highlights included The Prep Rock Workshop – comprised of five drummers, eight guitarists, four keys players and two vocalists – delivering a powerful set including songs by Queen, Neil Young and The Black Keys.

“Our senior Rock Workshop bands showcased some well-written originals and it was impressive to see the quality of performance from all the bands.”

Thank you to all of the Music Department and Rock Workshop teachers for working with the students to prepare them for this year’s performance, as well as our Friends of Music (FoM) parent volunteers who provided food and drinks during the event.
