Year 3 boys have been witnessing one of nature’s most amazing spectacles – the transformation of Monarch butterflies.

This term the boys have been looking at the characteristics of living things and just three weeks ago received a batch of caterpillars, and have been able to witness the butterfly lifecycle unfold before their eyes.

Claire Clemons and Sallyann Lee, both Year 3 teachers, explained that “every morning it has been great to see the excitement on the boys’ faces as they enter the classroom and walk straight to the butterfly enclosure to see what has happened over night. Sometimes it is nice to remember and appreciate the phenomena that occurs every day in the world around us.”

Once the boys have had an opportunity to carefully observe the Monarch butterflies they will be releasing them back into the wild.
