The first week of school provided a great opportunity to support the Year 7 students in their transition to Christ Church. For each student making the transition, we focus on individual needs and emphasise giving him a sense of belonging, helping him feel valued and safe, making new friends, feeling supported by older students, and feeling confident in navigating around the campus.

The level of support given to all our new students, by both House and School Prefects, has been exceptional. Equally, the impressive leadership displayed, and assistance provided whilst performing their routine duties has ensured a smooth start to the year. Similarly, the Year 11 Peer Support Leaders have modelled the ‘students mentoring students’ message in a very encouraging manner, which is always great to see.

It has been a pleasure walking around campus and seeing the majority of students return to school looking well-presented and respectful of the School’s standards. Student presentation standards can be found here.

The beginning of the year is an opportunity to reiterate to both existing and new parents the ways in which they can safely drop their boys to campus. Traffic congestion requires a whole of community approach, especially when there are two schools, side by side, with students completing the school day at the same time. The drop-off and pick-up loop near Sandover is for Preparatory students only. All Senior School students should be picked up from locations away from the campus – see map here. Can I please ask parents to consider empowering their son to ‘walk a little way’. Not only is this good for his health, but it is also a social activity when done with peers and demonstrates trust and responsibility.

Years 8 to 12 Parent/Tutor/Student interviews will be held on campus this coming Monday night. Tutors are looking forward to the conversations with you and your son regarding their goals set for the year ahead. A reminder that bookings close tomorrow at 12.00pm, and interviews will take place in your son’s tutorial room.

With the House Swimming Carnival approaching in Week 4, it is recommended that students try on their bathers and House shirts to ensure they fit. Please check Uniform Shop opening hours to enable any new uniform pieces to be purchased in readiness for upcoming events. Please note the Uniform Shop is closed on the day of the House Swimming Carnival. Further information regarding the House Swimming Carnival will shared next week.
