On Tuesday evening we witnessed a very keenly contested Senior School House Swimming Carnival. Romsey claimed victory ahead of Queenslea, with great competition in all events throughout the program. Congratulations to all competitors and the cup and age group winners. This is a great competition as it prepares the boys for the Quads and Inters in the coming weeks.
Next week we will commence another component of the Beatty Cup competition, the House Arts, where boys can reveal their talents in public speaking, chess or debating. These activities can provide a valuable opportunity for boys from all year levels to both witness and participate in pastimes that can be used and enjoyed throughout their lives.
This Saturday Christ Church will be hosting the PSA Rowing at Champions Lakes. All of the Christ Church teams are rowing exceptionally well this year under the guidance of Justin Forbes and the team and we are eagerly awaiting the Head of the River (HoR) which is set for four weeks time, on 23 March. If you haven’t been to a regatta, either this weekend or the HoR will be impressive and you can see the boys in action, and meet some of the members of the Don Fraser Club Friends of Rowing such as Glenn Bergsma, one of many parents who work tirelessly to ensure the boys and parents are well informed and catered for at events.
Last night we held a welcome dinner for Preparatory School parents new to the School in 2019. This is a lovely occasion bringing the newest members of our community together to meet other parents, staff, talk with members of the Executive team, Parents’ Association and the Chair of Council, Matthew McNeilly. Christ Church culture is about inclusivity and these events are a terrific example of how we build connections and engagement, and tonight we look forward to welcoming our new Senior School parents to a similar dinner.
