Welcome back to Term 2. I hope the break provided an opportunity for rest and renewal after a busy and fulfilling Term 1.
Over the holidays, we were delighted to welcome the Australian Men’s Water Polo team to our campus as they prepared for their Oceania Qualifier matches against New Zealand. It was a particular pleasure to see Old Boy John Hedges (’16) return as part of the national squad — a proud moment for our community and a testament to the pathways our students can follow beyond school. Meanwhile, two teams of Christ Church students took part in the WA Schools Teams Sailing Regatta, held at Nedlands Yacht Club. Competing against schools from across the state, both teams performed exceptionally well. Our CCGS Gold team claimed first place and the Ron Tough Trophy. CCGS Blue also impressed, finishing in third place. These outstanding results reflect the depth of talent within our sailing program. We now look ahead to July, when the CCGS Gold team will represent Western Australia at the National Schools Team Sailing Regatta. Click here to read more.
Looking ahead to this weekend, the winter sport season gets underway with our first fixture against Hale. Our students have been working hard over the break, and I know they are eager to put their training into action. Best of luck to all teams competing.
In addition, our Year 11 students will attend the annual Year 11 Dance on Saturday held this year at the Royal Perth Yacht Club. This special evening offers students the chance to enjoy time with their peers and celebrate their penultimate year of school in a memorable setting.
On Sunday we will welcome our Year 9 parents to the first Sundowner for the term. The Sundowner provides an opportunity for parents to connect and hear more about the exciting experiences their sons will encounter during their upcoming Outdoor Education program at Kooringal. Over eight days, the boys will take on a range of challenging and rewarding activities, including expedition bushwalking and navigation, canoeing, a ropes course, rogaining, a solo experience, and community service.
I look forward to the term ahead and all the opportunities it holds for our students, staff and families.
