Soli ’17 is a highlight of the Music Department’s annual performance repertoire and when 10 of our Year 12 soloists will display their immense talent.

In the tradition of Concerto Night concerts, solo performers on violin, drums, vocals, guitar, trumpet, piano, saxophone and flute will take to the Hadley Hall stage and perform pieces from all musical genres. These include classical – Saint-Saens and Gershwin, Jazz – Cole Porter and Spencer Williams, Rock – Led Zeppelin and Daft Punk, and Musical Theatre/Film – Gilbert and Sullivan and Pirates of the Caribbean.

This concert demonstrates the dedication and efforts of our 10 soloists who have submerged themselves in the musical life of Christ Church. It also gives students in the accompanying orchestras and ensembles the chance to learn the art of backing a solo artist. Students from Years 7 to 12 will be on stage performing in symphony orchestras, jazz bands, rock bands and choirs.

Such a concert would not be possible without the artistry of our musical arrangers, the rehearsal focus and discipline of ensemble directors, the eye for detail and design skills of program designers and finally the technical expertise of stage staff.

Soli ’17 allows our soloists the utmost in musical and administrative support to demonstrate their virtuosity and prowess. This is a concert to be enjoyed by lovers of music and I cordially invite you along.

The event will be held on Saturday 2 September at 2.00pm. Tickets to the performance can be purchased through Eventbrite.
