This Sunday marks the beginning of National Boarding Week, where we will shine a spotlight on our wonderful residential community. From this Sunday 12 May until Saturday 18 May, the School will be sharing photos and videos of our boarders’ hometowns that they took during the holidays.

While many live within hours from campus by car, we also have boarders from further afar, including Derby, Broome, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Geraldton, Indonesia, Darwin, Karratha, Hong Kong, and more. By offering a glimpse into where they call home, day students gain a deeper understanding of their peers, leading to enhanced inclusivity, friendships, and recognition and respect for diverse cultures and lifestyles.

On Monday 13 May from 3.00pm to 6.00pm, the School invites our Christ Church families and community to join us for the Boarding House Open Day on the Chapel Forecourt. Boarders can bring their day student friends to the event, where there will be a sausage sizzle and soft drinks on sale, games, music, and a mechanic bull – a huge hit with students and staff last year!

Christ Church currently has 81 boarders, coming from both national and international locations, residing under one roof in the the newly renovated Walters House. Providing unparalleled pastoral care for our boarders are the Director of Boarding Todd Harnwell, Heads of House, residential staff who live on-campus, Housemothers, and our nurses who offer 24-hour care. Staff and day students will have an opportunity to celebrate National Boarding Week with our boarders, with activities such as a staff vs. boarders basketball match, boarders vs. day boys sporting match, and a presentation at Assembly showcasing their photos.

Keep an eye on our Facebook and Instagram over the coming week to enjoy our National Boarding Week photos and videos.
