An incursion with Educated by Nature provided boys from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 2 with the opportunity and freedom to get messy with mud to celebrate International Mud Day.

International Mud Day is an opportunity for children across the globe to celebrate nature, outdoors and mess by getting really muddy, with some children being quite comfortable getting messy from head to toe – and for others, messy experiences can be beneficial as they are challenged to move out from their comfort zone.

“Kids these days rarely have the time or space to get messy. Our nature-based incursions are designed to connect students with the natural world through play,” explains Educated by Nature Director, Daniel Burton.

“We provide the students with a range of options to be involved with the mud, from water play to dry sculpture making and then the full body immersion experience.”

“I love the mud because it feels funny and I can squish it and throw it,” commented Pre-Primary student, Titan.

Activities such as International Mud Day are reflective of the play-based learning philosophy embraced by the Early Years classrooms at Christ Church Grammar School. Additional photos from the activities can be viewed here.
