It has been a lively week of music to wrap up the term, with students across the School stepping into the spotlight for a series of performances that filled venues with energy, skill and enthusiasm.

Last Friday, 43 students brought jazz to life at the Camelot Arts Club in an intimate evening performance. Performing in small ensembles, students demonstrated strong cohesion and musicality, making full use of the close-up setting to deliver a relaxed and engaging jazz experience.

On Sunday, more than 125 students from Years 2 to 12 took to the stage at Rock at Rosemount at the iconic Rosemount Hotel. Seventeen student bands delivered a packed program of rock classics and contemporary favourites, including music from The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Nirvana and Metallica. More than 50 songs were performed across the afternoon, with an enthusiastic audience in attendance throughout.

The week concluded on Tuesday evening with the Preparatory School Winter Music Concert in the Chapel. Families, friends and staff enjoyed a warm and uplifting program, showcasing younger musicians performing with growing confidence across our ensembles, orchestras and choirs.

Across jazz, rock and classical settings, students demonstrated collaboration, musical growth and great enjoyment, bringing their music to life for live audiences. It is a valuable opportunity for students to perform at both school and external venues, experiencing a range of professional and community settings.

We thank our dedicated music staff and peripatetic teachers for their ongoing guidance and support, and for fostering a love of music at every stage of the students’ journey.
