On Wednesday, students in Years 7, 8, and 10 attended meaningful, age-appropriate presentations by guest speaker Daniel Principe. Daniel is a nationally recognised youth advocate and a 2025 NSW Australian of the Year nominee. He inspires young people to grow with courage, empathy, and critical awareness in today’s digital world.

Daniel explored the influence of online culture, ranging from hyper-sexualised media and toxic influencers to the silent pressures surrounding masculinity and relationships. He challenged students to think critically about the media they consume, how it shapes their identity, and what kind of men they want to become.

Each presentation was tailored to the developmental stage of the students:

  • Year 7 – focused on recognising and interpreting messages in the media
  • Year 8 – explored relationships, peer pressure, and personal responsibility
  • Year 10 – building on the School’s Year 9 OQD program, reflected more deeply on behaviours and choices that define respectful adulthood

Daniel’s visit reflects the School’s commitment to building the inner man, equipping students with the insight and tools to navigate a complex world with integrity, self-awareness and empathy. It also aligns with our Wellbeing Framework, which promotes ethical behaviour and digital literacy through meaningful learning experiences.

“Our students are growing up in a world where online culture quietly shapes how they see themselves and others,” said Brad Gardner, Director of the Wynne Centre for Health and Wellbeing.

“Daniel creates a space for students to pause, reflect, and ask better questions about who they are becoming. These conversations help them shift from passive consumers to thoughtful young men.”

Parents are warmly invited to hear from Daniel Principe at tonight’s Community Presentation, ‘Championing Teens in a Digital World.’ He will share further insights into the cultural influences shaping our boys and how we can guide them toward becoming healthy, values-driven young adults.
