Last Friday the School held the Boarders’ Orientation weekend, with all new families and boys enjoying a sleepover, dinner and getting to know each other.

The orientation activities began with new Director of Boarding Todd Harnwell formally introducing the new boarders and their families to the on-campus boarding staff, who will be their support network in the coming years.

Following the introductions, the boys and their parents and guardians stayed on campus overnight to help the new boys settle in and feel comfortable with the School, its facilities and their fellow peers. The following day was filled with orientation activities and a tour of the campus, giving everyone a better understanding of the boarding experience and what to expect.

To mark the end of the weekend’s activities, the families enjoyed a final welcome drinks on Sunday, allowing an opportunity to relax, unwind and get to know one another in a social setting.

Todd commented on the benefits of the weekend for boarding families saying, “The orientation weekend was a great success and a fantastic opportunity to build relationships and create a sense of community amongst our boarding families. New boarders and their families were able to get a taste of life on campus and meet returning boarding families and staff members, which helps to create a positive environment for these families as they embark on their boarding journey.”
