The annual Parents’ Auxiliary ‘Passion for Fashion’ Parade held on Saturday evening raised $11,000 for AnglicareWA’s Street Connect.

More than 150 people attended the event in Sandover Dining Hall, which was transformed into bustling city street corner complete with streetlights, billboards, a busker and more.

Flannel supplied all of this year’s fashions with Christ Church mothers, one representing each year group, and Year 12 boys modelling the new season’s looks. Also on the runway were Senior School Art students, who created street-inspired T-shirts, which were raffled during the night. There were also door prizes and silent auction items.

Christ Church mother Ryah Prentice was the glamorous MC for the evening, while music was provided by Head of Philosophy and DJ for the night Dominic Hodnett and ‘street busker’ Samuel Bougher (Year 11), who sang and played the guitar.

President of the Parents’ Auxiliary Samantha Goebel thanked Flannel, Karma Royal Group, Eyes of Claremont, Ricarda and other sponsors who donated items for the silent auction. “Thanks especially to the committee and those who volunteered many hours of their time in bringing together a fabulous evening, which was such a great outcome for all,” Mrs Goebel said.

Street Connect aims to make connections with marginalised young people who gather regularly in public places and engage them in positive life changes. Youth workers provide a daily outreach presence via the Mobile Youth Resource Centre (outreach bus). Street Connect ultimately works to reduce the amount of time homeless young people spend on the streets.
