This week the School has been celebrating Science Week, with this year’s theme “Glass: More than meets the eye“, based on the UN International Year of Glass.

The theme celebrates the many roles that glass plays in our lives – from phone screens to optical fibre to glassware in labs – plus investigating glass as a part of our sustainable future.

Activities took place throughout the week with the Prep School boys participating in activities during their lunch breaks and the Senior School boys during their assigned Science class.

On Monday the Senior boys were challenged to locate teachers wearing white lab coats and solve a word puzzle while the Prep boys learnt about vulcanology, building their own volcanoes using Play-Doh, vinegar and baking soda.

On Tuesday Year 7 boys designed and created Rube Goldberg machines during their Science Class and explored the nature of glass and its uses as they played and experimented with beakers, microscopes and eyeglasses.

Yesterday the boys were visited by Wedge-tailed Eagle, Tawny Frogmouth, Australian Masked Owl, Barking Owl and Brown Falcon as part of an exploration of raptors.
