Ten boys from Years 5 and 6 had the opportunity to test their parkour skills last Thursday as part of their weekly sport program.

Parkour is a sport that involves running, climbing, swinging, vaulting, jumping, plyometrics, rolling and crawling to traverse obstacles and environments.

“It is a full-body workout that has proven to improve cardiovascular endurance, bone strength and core strength as well as promoting creativity, quick thinking and confidence, and is perfect for boys of all levels of ability,” said Daniela Chacon, Co-Ordinator of the Peter Moyes Centre.

The students were offered a number of activities in which they could participate whilst other students are engaged in JPSSA competitive sport. Parkour was overwhelmingly the most popular choice.

The parkour activities take place at The Motion Academy, a mixed movement gym who also offer very skilled coaches, who guide the boys through their journey at their own pace and based on their abilities.
