Year 7s have hit the ground running for Term 1 and have been embracing their ‘Transition Week’ activities. The objective of this initial week is to ensure a smooth transition into the Senior School. As our youngest Senior cohort, which includes many fresh faces, it is important that the group become familiarised with the Senior campus, their new device, and academic subjects. Equally important is the opportunity to forge friendships, and establish connections with their Tutors, Heads of House, and teachers before formally commencing academic timetable in Week 2.

One of the highlights of ‘Transition Week’ was the Beach Activity Day, held on Wednesday and Thursday, which saw students undertake various beach activities in House teams at North Cottesloe beach. The incredible weather on Wednesday made for a perfect morning and students were eager to run around in the sand and waves. Among the fun competitions was sandcastle building, flags, and a paddling relay. With the hot weather, there were plenty of chances for a swim or bodysurf to cool off between each game.

Our wonderful Kooringal staff facilitated the event with Heads of House, Tutors, and Senior peer mentors in attendance to assist. It was fantastic to see students getting into the spirit of the day, working together in teams with their mentors, cheering each other on, and making new friends. The second group of students will participate in Beach Activity Day this morning.
