The Don MacLeod Scholarship

Applications for 2025 entry have now closed.

This scholarship has been established in memory of Don MacLeod, former head of Preparatory School in recognition of his service the School. The Don MacLeod Scholarship covers 50% of the tuition fees for a student joining Year 7 in 2025.

In 1960, Headmaster Peter Moyes appointed Don MacLeod to the Head of Preparatory School. Don remained in this role until his retirement in 1986. During his 26 years at Christ Church, Don was an innovative educator and always set out to ensure each student was individually catered for by the programs on offer.

Don, his wife Peg and two sons Mark and Graeme lived in Romsey House, which was the Junior Boarding House at Christ Church. Don and Peg played a significant part in inducting new students to life in boarding. Having been educated in New Zealand, Don came to Christ Church with a strong rugby background and was instrumental in introducing the game to the School. He also had a great personal interest in arts and crafts and became a self-taught and accomplished potter in his retirement.

This scholarship is open to Australian students who meet the required criteria and, while subject to annual review, is tenable for the duration of the boy’s education at Christ Church. Applicants are considered on their ability to benefit from a Christ Church education and must clearly demonstrate financial hardship.
